FMLA Reporting:
As you know FMLASource is the company vendor for all FMLA and leave processing. All the leave information can be found on my.envoyair.com then click on people services to find out all the information. AFA recommends that all reporting should be done via email or the FMLA portal via the company website. If you choose to call for reporting, it is best to follow up with an email so that you have a paper trail. Don’t forget every day must be reported even if it is 1 leg out/in of an overnight, lost days and deadhead legs, any time not reported could lead to the date being coded as sick or missed assignment.
It should be noted that if you are reporting intermittent leave we recommend only using the phone or email option. If you choose to use the website option 4 you must submit each day of the pairing missed. If you only enter 1 date, but intended to use FMLA for more than 1 day, you may be denied the remaining dates that weren’t entered.
ADA Accommodations:
AFA is often contacted by Flight Attendants who do not qualify for FMLA and have difficulty performing the essential job functions and don’t know what options are available to them.
The Americans with Disabilities Act entitles qualified individuals with certain medical conditions and or disabilities to request reasonable workplace accommodations. If you do not qualify for FMLA Medical Leave because you do not have the required hours or one year of service, this is one option you can utilize when dealing with a health condition for yourself. This leave does not include family members like FMLA. The information from the company can be found on www.myenvoyair.com by clicking on the following links: departments, people services and then accommodations. The forms are also available on our website at www.afaeagle.com under the FMLA tab. FMLASource will administer these types of leaves and their contact information is on the forms.
Personal Leaves may also be an option and the contractual language is found in Section 18.A. Personal leaves may be granted for up to 90 days, but must be a minimum of 7 days and these leaves are based on staffing. If you are requesting a personal leave you should contact Lisa Snyder at Lisa.Snyder@aa.com to start the process.
